We believe and are committed to the biblical doctrines that formed the for the basis of the Great Reformation of the 16th Century. These doctrines have been formulated in the classical Reformed Creeds such as the Three Forms of Unity (Belgic Confession, Heidelberg Catechism and the Canons of Dort) and the Westminster Confession. Though we hold firmly to the biblical truths expressed in these Creeds, we do not bind each other to all the details of these Confessions but leave freedom of conscience in non-essentials. The essentials of our beliefs are summarised in the following Statement of Faith.
We believe in:
- One God who reveals Himself in three Persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
- The sovereignty of God in his ruling of the world and the lives of people.
- The inspiration of God's Word by the Holy Spirit and therefore we accept its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
- The fallen, sinful, and lost condition of all people.
- The liberation from the guilt and the penalty of sin, solely through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, on the cross.
- The bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ from the dead and his ascension into heaven.
- The power of the Holy Spirit in the work of regeneration and sanctification of people in whom He lives.
- The justification of the sinner by the grace of God, through faith alone.
- The one holy universal Church, which is the body of Christ, to which all true believers belong.
- The personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ to this world at the end of the ages.
